Spread throughout the tropic South Pacific islands, the kukui or candlenut is a nut rich in oil. The nuts contain almost 50% oil. It burns just like a candle, thus the name - candlenut. Polynesians had many uses for the oil and it was considered to be of great value.

The kukui has been used as an accessory since ancient Hawaiian times. People of all walks of life wore them in pendants and necklaces. Perhaps the most visible use of the kukui nut lei can still be seen adorning hula dancers as the perform. In addition, there are many Hawaiians and Hawaiians-at-heart who use the oil for health benefits. Available in black.
